What does it mean to lose one's mind?

To begin.... I never wanted to shock people, but what ended up happening was a trip to the hospital after a terrifying and mystical night of complete preponderance, unsanctioned and horribly lost. I found myself alone, in someone else's world, naked. 

This book chronicles the metaphoric (meta-physical) journey of the schizophrenic mind as it centers through psychosis. 

Symptoms: 

Grandiosity, hearing voices, having cameras placed surgically inwardly, feeling like a robot, feeling like a human, feeling betrayed by symbolic parents, feeling vibrations of galactic distances, being at the center of the world where there is no such thing as a stranger, feelings of being cast as a shadow to be ignored, all while perhaps betraying your dream in the process, etc.
